Zaanse Schans

Located just north of Amsterdam (15km), the Zaanse Schans offers a perfectly preserved glimpse into the Netherlands’ industrial past with its traditional houses, windmills, warehouses and workshops. It’s a residential area in which the 18th and 19th centuries are brought to life. Strolling past the bakery museum gives the joy of smelling fresh cookies, there is a.o. also a warehouse where clogs are made, a cheese factory, a pewter foundry and the various windmills.
